To the Future Youth Resource Coordinator

January 29, 2020

Dear Future Youth Resource Coordinator,

I am grateful for you because you recognize the value of the “back stage manager” and you enjoy it . Not only do you enjoy this role, and are good at it, but you see in this role God’s calling and an opportunity for ministry. You consider it an act of worship to develop and grow systems and structures for a program so that program leaders can use their gifts to their utmost. Specifically, here are some of the gifts I see in you.

You are passionate about God and desire deeply to follow God’s will for your life. God’s will directs every decision you make and your deepest desire is to bring glory to God in all that you do. You are grounded in scripture and in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. You embody the very core beliefs that we want desperately the youth of PTM to know, feel, and believe. ( Core Beliefs )

You are a coordinator. You like bringing things together. You enjoy finding a new PTM partner introducing that partner to our youth director and sitting back and watching the relationship take off. You love watching God provide meals through small groups and generous individuals. You are able to cultivate those relationships with thoughtful, quick, and inspiring communication.

You find the answer you need. If we don’t have something we need, you go get it. If we are missing a skill on our staff, you find a volunteer willing to serve. You have great ideas. You share them. You show initiative. You implement.

You are an excellent communicator. Whether you are interacting by voice, digitally, or in person, people feel heard and understood. You write with clarity and humor. You welcome others into PTM genuinely and warmly. You are able to broadcast PTM’s story (and stories) creatively and consistently. You enjoy Word and PowerPoint, but you LOVE telling stories through Excel. While your focus is on the programs for 6th-12th grade you are so good at what you do that you also help with record-keeping across all of PTM programming.

You are a little bit of a task master. You recognize that not everyone cares as much as you do about paperwork, but you gently and firmly help them understand. You are able to keep track of minute details that seem so trivial to most, but you are able to maintain them in a way that leads to a better organization and even more opportunities for more youth. You enjoy being called the “receipt czar”, while having great relationships with all members of PTM staff.

You are compassionate. You are not just “nice” to everyone, but you take the time to understand the community in which we serve. You do the hard things to build real community and empower the families who are a part of PTM. You demonstrate a cultural understanding that values the unique contributions that our families make and you invite parents into all aspects of PTM programming.

You are a giver. You have a generous spirit and you look for ways to volunteer at PTM. You enjoy giving financial contributions to PTM because you recognize what a good investment in youth PTM is—and how wisely contributions are managed.

You will enjoy the PTM staff and will fit in like family. The salary will be $34,000 + partial health benefits or $36,300 without health benefits. Additionally, there will be three weeks of paid leave built into the rhythm of the year. While you could make more money in another job, you will enjoy working at PTM so much you will feel like you are overpaid. Like for me, the biggest benefits will come in the satisfaction of serving God and others doing something that is fun, that makes a difference, and that provides many opportunities for relationships with outstanding people.

If interested in this position, please read the job description here ( PTM Job Description Youth Resource Coordinator) Next, please send your cover letter and resume by February 14, 2020 to Collin (collin@prestontaylorministries.org). I am very excited about meeting you and serving with you.

Very gratefully yours,

Chan Sheppard
