Dream Pursuit

All children need to dream. Not just normal dreams, but God-inspired dreams. PTM provides several avenues for dream pursuit. Some of the opportunities happen as part of the afterschool program, but many take place “after hours”.

Our goal is to introduce our students to a variety of unique experiences they might not have access to elsewhere.

  • Fun Friday

Every Friday (4:00-6:00) during the school year, over 150 PTM children are exposed to a variety of volunteer-led enrichment opportunities including dance, sports, art, music, gardening, cooking, and more. Students from all other after-school sites come to the Wilson Center and  Community House on this day.

  • Retreats and Camps

A few times a year, groups of students from PTM venture out of town for a night or two to take part in retreats. Previous retreats have been held at Barefoot Republic Camp, Camp Sycamore, Camp Widgiwagan, and Camp NaCoMe. These retreats provide opportunities for speakers to delve deeper into scripture, for small groups to interact, for cabin time to build friendships, for team-building activities, and for free time dedicated to fun and dreaming. Additionally, PTM takes students on camping trips to expose them to outdoor activities.

  • Field Trips

Nearly every weekend, PTM students are embarking on adventures such as visiting the Adventure Science Center, attending sporting events, exploring museums, flying in a plane, going to a pumpkin patch, participating in a pinewood derby, watching movies or plays, or attending a reading camp at a park. These field trips create opportunities for strengthened friendships and foster more opportunities to dream.

  • Spring Break in the Marketplace

During spring break for Metro Nashville Public Schools, 6th-12th grade students are placed in several post-high school opportunities for job shadowing experiences. Areas of interest have included songwriter's studios, architecture firms, civil engineering, automotive repair, construction, and tech.
