Dear Future Community House Program Director,
You will love your “job”. It’s more than a job to you. You are passionate about God and desire deeply to follow God’s will for your life. God’s will directs every decision you make and your deepest desire is to bring glory to God in all that you do. You are grounded in scripture and in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. You embody the very core beliefs
that we want desperately the youth of PTM to know, feel, and believe.
You are a connector. You connect with the students. They love being around you, following traditions and rituals you lead, and seeing what you have planned next. You connect well with parents, staff, volunteers, and partners. At PTM connectedness happens across a wide variety of programs, events, relationships, and opportunities. You believe that we never know fully what is going to strike the spark within each youth, so you encourage us to try everything—and you can facilitate it.
You are driven. You help foster a culture of growth and embrace PTM’s mission and strategic plan. Recognizing the needs of our community and the growing number of PTM supporters, you look for ways both to expand the number of youth served by PTM and deepen the ministry to each student. You creatively look for space, staff, and volunteers to serve over 85 children and youth, to help them experience positive peer groups, enriching experiences, mentoring relationships, an understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and academic growth. As hard-working and determined as you are, you are able to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. You recognize that ministry through PTM is not a sprint, but a marathon.
You are an inspiring leader. Your team looks up to you. You help develop others—staff, LEAPers, and summer interns. You are creative, consistent, and fun. You know the names and stories of the youth at Community House. You know their dreams, what gets them excited, and where their giftedness lies. You persevere in helping students have an opportunity to pursue their specific dream. You work with staff—both paid and volunteer—to match unique desires of students with the unique gifts of a host of volunteers (and future volunteers). You give students an opportunity to be and feel successful, instilling in them confidence and courage.
You are good at keeping records. You help measure the progress of our youth and tell the stories of their accomplishments to supporters, parents, students, and the community.
You approach a vocation with the awareness that one of life’s greatest joys is to do what you love, what you are good at, and what makes a true difference in others’ lives. You realize that in this “calling” your salary will be below what you could make in another profession or position, but you will feel as though you are overpaid. The salary will be in the range of 40,000-50,000 with optional healthcare. Additionally, there will be three weeks of paid leave built into the rhythm of the year. Like for me, the biggest benefits will come in the satisfaction of serving God and others doing something that is fun, that makes a difference, and that provides many opportunities for relationships with outstanding people.
Prayerfully,
Chan
