Summer Intern Series: Meet Allison

July 9, 2015

summerinternseries IMG_8469My name is Allison Pratt and I am one of the Social Work interns at PTM. I have been interning since the beginning of March and will continue through July. I am a Senior at Lipscomb University, where I am majoring in Social Work and minoring in Psychology. I was placed at PTM for my Social Work Practicum I and II. My Practicum advisor, Cayce Watson, was the one who introduced me to PTM and set up the interview. So far, I have really enjoyed my time interning at PTM.

IMG_6119Currently, I lead a handful of groups at multiple sites, including the Wilson Center, Park Avenue, and Calvin House. I also meet with a few individual clients. Apart from that, I help out wherever I can while at my designated site for the day. One of my favorite experiences so far has been the first annual PTM Field Day. Friday, July 3rd PTM celebrated the 4th of July a day early with a field day. The day was full of group activities and games. I was assigned the position as one of the team leaders. I really enjoyed being able to spend time with the kids outside of program curriculum. It was so great to see the kids get excited about field day and enjoy our fellowship with one another through friendly competition.

Over the past few months I’ve been blessed to see how the studentsIMG_6080have grown. I have loved getting to know their hearts. I am excited to finish out the summer program strong. I believe these kids have a bright future and love the joy they bring each time I am around them. Nothing feels quite as amazing as seeing a kid’s face light up as they yell “Hey Miss Allison!”.
