Welcome to Sara and Collin by Chan Sheppard

May 21, 2015

In early March I wrote a letter to PTM’s future advancement director expressing confidence that this person would be a “dreamer—one who would recognize that God consistently provides far more sarahorton  than we can ask or imagine.”  I wrote a similar letter to PTM’s future director of operations outlining my belief that this person would “consider it an act of worship to develop and grow the structure of an organization so that programs can run at top efficiency and the organization can thrive long into the future.”   On May 18, 2015, PTM welcomed Sara Horton and Collin Spindle to our staff.

As I have told them, we do not need an advancement director and a director of operations to do what we are currently doing.  But, in order for PTM to carry out its strategic plan of continuing to grow the number of students we serve and to serve in an even deeper way, they are essential.  With these additions PTM will be able to add a satellite site this fall and expand the number of children served at Park Avenue and be in a place to keep growing.  Having two new positions is awesome.  Having Sara and Collin is even more awesome.  Here are a few words from their cover letters that give a glimpse into these awesome individuals:

“I have over ten years of experience building and maintaining relationships with donors from growing up as a missionary kid and also serving God with YWAM as an adult. I have been speaking in churches and telling stories about ministries and the work that God was doing since I was a child and have seen God provide for not only the needs of my mother and me, but also our ministry through the years. I love people and am passionate about making a difference in the lives of children. Preston Taylor Ministries’ mission resonates deeply with the calling that I feel God has placed on my life and I believe that I can use both my personal experiences with missions, fundraising, and volunteer coordination to help PTM reach its goal.” (Sara Horton)

“Preston Taylor Ministries’ mission to empower youth is something about which I am very collinspindle passionate. I entered the field of youth development after working for CentriKid Camps through LifeWay Christian Resources.  As I have professionally progressed through CentriKid Camps I have learned as passionate as I am about youth, I really love directing and playing a supportive role in seeing the mission of youth based organizations come to life.” (Collin Spindle)

I hope that you will get a chance to interact with Sara and Collin soon.  I think you will be encouraged by their heart and desire to serve.  I know I have been.  Thanks for being a part of PTM’s ministry.

Gratefully yours,

Chan
