Letter to the Future High School Director

July 3, 2014

Dear Future High School Director,

Your heart is full of joy as you dream of the significant impact that you will have on PTM high school students and you are incredibly thankful that God led you here.

You are a disciple of Christ with a daily testimony of the Holy Spirit’s work in you.  You recognize that God’s Holy Spirit works powerfully in all areas of ministry, but you have a burning in your heart for high school youth.  You understand that at the end of the day what matters most is not how many pizza parties you threw or how amazing your program was, what matters is that each of your students experienced the presence of God.

You walk into this position seasoned with grace and solid experience with high school students. You have wisdom beyond your years and at the same time exude a joyful youthfulness.  You are a role model not because of the things you say but because of the life you live publicly and privately.

You understand the culture, mindset and challenge of high risk teens but you don’t pity them, you empower them.  You teach them about the power of perspective and perseverance.  You are able to identify their gifts and help them reach their God-given potential.  You are thick-skinned and know how to speak truth in a way that builds up the spirit instead of tearing it down.  You know the art of being both friend and mentor and you set clear boundaries and expectations.

You are goal oriented and see the value in quality and quantity.  You have been successful in growing programs in the past. Networking and recruiting comes easily to you. Organization, time management and communication are among your top skills. You build relationships with ease and understand that you are walking along side parents of the youth, not replacing them.

Finally, people describe you as a person of prayer.  When students have good news, you take that as an opportunity to lead a prayer of thanksgiving. When students have bad news, you take that as an opportunity to lead a prayer of petition. You pray for the families of the youth as you would pray for your own.

You aren’t just looking for a job or something to do until you “figure things out”, you are in this for the long haul and you know that you will be blessed to be a part of this incredible community of believers.

With love,

Nina Elaine Borum
