A Parent’s Perspective by Sophia Vaughn

May 7, 2014

Tonight at the senior banquet was awesome. The love and support that flowed in that room made for a IMG_3910 joyous event. I would like to thank Mr. Chan, Mrs. Tess, Mr.Dwight, Mrs.Kelly, Mrs.Rachel, Mrs.Donna and all of the other workers and volunteers for making this night so special and also for the love, support and encouragement that you have not only shown to my daughter Alliyah but to my entire family.  You have helped me as a parent to show Alliyah that with CHRIST NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE. Even though through the years she has shown some resistance (to say the least) none of you ever gave up on her.  You all have helped her to see that not only does she have value but to always let her light shine and for that I will be eternally grateful. So my prayer for all of you is that GOD keeps strengthening and encouraging you to keep doing the things you do and our world will and can change for the better, one child at a time. May GOD bless you.

Sincerely,

Sophia, Alliyah, Keshawn, Terique

Note from Chan: Tess prepared a slide show for each one of the eight graduates that covered their time at PTM and the Calvin House for the Senior Banquet.  Six of the eight students have been involved in PTM programming for over 8 years.  Each one had a parent present.  Each graduate (except the really, really shy one) expressed sincere gratitude for the patience, support, and consistent presence of PTM staff and volunteers.  It was enough to help the difficulties and disappointments along the way seem much less significant.  I firmly believe that God is using PTM and its supporters to answer prayers that have been prayed by faithful parents.
