My first involvement with PTM came through meeting Concetta Smith and the Junior League. Concetta is a passionate, committed PTM supporter and her exuberance and enthusiasm for PTM, the kids and the missions is infectious. At that time in my life, I was looking for a meaningful way to get involved and have an impact. Concetta spoke of her relationship with Montez, and their time together in Breakfast and Bible Study. I knew instantly that both spiritually as well as emotionally that Breakfast and Bible Study would give me the opportunity that I sought.

Breakfast and Bible Study has been everything that I hoped it would be, and so much more. My mentee is Scarlet- currently a 5th grader. Scarlet is brave, bold, intelligent, bright, and exceptional in every way. I am so blessed to know her, and connect with her on a weekly basis. When I first met her, I do recall being a bit nervous as to how we would relate to one another. Would we have things to talk about? Would there be awkward silences? I need not have worried.

Scarlet’s wit, humor and zest for life captivated me immediately. One of the first things that I asked her was: What was her favorite part of coming to PTM? Without missing a beat, she enthusiastically replied: “When Mr. Josh puts me in charge!” Another time, when we were studying the story of Joseph I asked her if a friend had ever betrayed her. She responded: “Well no, I don’t hang around bad people.” She is witty, insightful and a great leader at school and PTM.

I enjoy every minute I get to spend with Scarlet, and I cannot wait to see what she does next in life. She will go far! If you are considering getting involved at PTM, I heartily encourage you to do so today. Your life will be enriched and blessed immeasurably by the relationships you will build.
