This summer our summer interns will be given the opportunity to write about their experiences at Preston Taylor Ministries. They are incredible and their experiences give us a different lens through which we can view our ministry. First up in our Summer Intern Series is Alex Ramos. Alex is one of our wonderful interns who serves at Rise and Rise Above and this is a little about him.
My name is Alex Ramos and I’m a rising senior at Franklin Road Academy, I first heard about PTM last year when Olivia talked to the school about her internship opportunity between her junior and senior year of high school. My school provides a scholarship to 12 privileged students after a selective application process and gives them a position in a nonprofit so that we can encourage the lower classmen and middle school to get out into their community and help philanthropically. Due to the qualities I exemplified I was placed in PTM where the previous intern, Olivia Nelson, explained the organization to me and what I would be doing. I have many hobbies, I love everything that involves nature and sports, my main sport is soccer but I love being active outside and teaching others about my passions. In my first week at PTM I have learned many things including realizing how blessed I am for my life, I have everything I need and I had never experienced that firsthand.
My favorite time of the week was the capture the flag game I organized at Rise Above, it was tied 1 to 1 and we had to go in so we begged for a tie breaker and my team worked as a team and we ended up winning after I slid and stopped Cedric’s run to home base and Damaria ran our flag back past 2 defenders to give us the win. Thought it might seem like a small win, it was a team effort and it took putting our bodies on the line to win and everyone participated using their strengths to help their team.
