This summer the PTM-N students have had the incredible gift of being exposed to science. One of our creative enrichment volunteers, Janet Kuhn, has created a wonderful curriculum that truly has our students buzzing. And while the title “science” would have sent the kids running in the other direction in the past, this summer it has been the place to be. They are learning that science is just about being curious and every time I pass their room I am pulled in by an excited student wanting to share the “magic” with me. Last week we took a field trip to the Adventure Science Center with 15 students. They were mesmerized. They loved the star walk, the hands on Google map (we spent a lot of time trying to find PTM) and weighing ourselves on different planets. Their realm of possibility expands every time Janet walks through the door with everyday items that show them just how complex and creatively God made us and the world we live in. I am constantly impressed and grateful for volunteers like Janet who can share their passion and knowledge in a way that encourages and enlightens our students.
