At a recent Calvin House, family groups were gathered to talk about discipleship and the importance of having both people who disciple us (Paul) and people we disciple (Timothy). Donna asked her family group of juniors and seniors if anyone wanted to share about being disciple by someone who was like Paul to them. Amazingly, one of the shyest students in her group, Marshall, volunteered to talk and spoke highly of his experience with Mr. Steve. Steve and Marshall have met weekly for the last two years on Monday nights. They meet for about an hour. They read and discuss scripture together, they pray together, and they set goals together. As Marshall shared about this relationship, he summed up one of the most beautiful outcomes of a mentoring relationship this way—“Sometimes, I even hear Mr. Steve in my head”. How wonderful it is that students at PTM have the opportunity for outstanding Christian adults to “get in their head”.
